From Andrew Walker's Limerick Chronicle :-
"Sunday morning at the Glebe House, Tralee, aged 66, the Rev. James Day, Rector of that Parish and Vicar-General of the Diocese of Ardfert. He was seized with an apoplectic fit on Saturday morning, and died a little more than 24 hours after. Mr Day, during a long course of years possessed the respect and attachment of society at large. As a fond parent, the benevolence of his affection will not cease to be remembered, and as a gentleman of enlarged capacity, high education, and polished address, society has to lament in the death of Mr. Day no inconsiderable deprivation"
