From the Norfolk Chronicle :-
“Wednesday last, at Yarmouth, Samuel Barker, Esq. after a lingering confinement of several years, sustained with exemplary patience and resignation. – He entertained the highest veneration for the religious and civil establishments of his country; his many good qualities endeared him to his family and his numerous friends; his benevolence and humanity were useful and active, and his memory will be embalmed in the hearts of all who were acquainted with his worth. – He served the office of Chief Magistrate of that borough in the year 1801, and had the honour to received Nelson on his arrival in England, who always expressed for him his cordial esteem.”
