"On the 9th inst., at Blandford House, Ladbroke-road, W., Major-General John Salusbury Trevor, C.S.I., late Royal Engineers (Bombay), in his 65th year. Funeral at Kensal-green Cemetery at 3 p.m., on Monday, 15th inst."

From the Times :-
"Major-General John Salusbury Trevor, C.S.I., late Royal Engineers (Bengal), died on the 9th inst., at his residence in Ladbroke-road, W. He was the son of Captain Robert Salusbury Trevor, Bengal Cavalry, who died in 1841. He was born in 1830, and passed out of Addiscombe in June, 1847. He was gazetted second lieutenant Bombay engineers in April, 1848. He served as assistant-superintendant of roads and tanks from 1849-1855, and was transferred to the Railway Department in August, 1855, as a deputy consulting engineer. He became Municipal of Bombay in 1861, and resigned his appointment in the Railway Department in 1864, but rejoined the Public Works Department in November, 1866, as an executive engineer in the Tapti irrigation. In November, 1868, he was appointed consulting engineer and under-secretary to the Bombay Government, railway branch, and chief engineer in 1870. From 1871 to 1872 he was acting secretary to the Government of India in the railway branch, and resigned his appointment in the Bombay Railway Department in 1874. He was appointed officiating secretary to the Government of India railway branch in June, 1878, and at the end of the year he resigned from the Army. He was appointed director-general of railways and departmental secretary, railway branch in 1880, but retired in the following year. He was chairman of the Bombay, Baroda, and Central India and Rohilkund and Kumaon Railway Companies. and he was on the boards of several other Indian railways. The dates of his promotions in the Army were as follows :- Captain, 1858 ; lieutenant-colonel, 1867 ; colonel, 1872 ; and major-general, 1878."
