Died in Isle of Wight.2,3,4

From the Manchester Courier and Lancashire General Advertiser :-
The Isle of Wight Coroner has investigated a case at Ryde relating to the death of Colonel Calvert Clarke, aged 75, living at Oak lodge, St John's Park, Ryde. He was a member of the Christian Scientist community. Captain Douglas Baines, of Bayswater, London, who was present at his death, and who described himself as a faith healer and Christian Scientist, said that he did not advise the deceased to call in a doctor, nor did the deceased express any wish to do so. At the instance of the Coroner local doctors made a post mortem and testified that the deceased gentleman died from pleurisy. If medical aid had been summoned, life could undoubtedly been prolonged. The jury returned a verdict of death from natural causes, and added a rider that the jury deeply deplored the fact that no medical man was called in before death."
