"At Chesterfield in the County of Derby Sept 16. 1761
Which day appeared personally Richard Roe of the Parish of Worksop in the County of Nottingham Tanner & being sworn upon the Holy Evangelists made oath as follows
That he is of the age of 27 years & upwards & intends to marry Mary Wright of the Parish of Norton in the county of Derby, aged 19 years & upwards, not knowing any impediment by reason of any precontract entered into before the 25 day of March 1761 consanguinity affinity or any other just cause whatsoever to hinder the said marriage & that he hath obtained the consent and approbation of Thomas Wright of the Parish of Norton Father of the said Mary Wright for the marriage & he prayed that a Licence might be granted to him to solemnise the marriage in the Parish Church of Norton, in which Parish she hath had her usual residence and abode for one month last past, & a Licence was decreed.
