From the Times :-
"Major-General Arthur Palmer Davis, late of the Bombay Army, died last week at his residence, Winchester-house, Park-road, Gloucester. He was the son of the late Colonel W. W. Davis, was born in 1830, and entered the Army in 1848. He served throughout the Central Indian campaign under Sir Hugh Rose in 1858, and received the medal and clasp for his services. He was also engaged against the Bundlecund rebels in 1858-59. He retired with the rank of Major-General in 1880."
