“The marriage of Mr. Charles Harry Clinton Pirie-Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pirie-Gordon of Buthlaw, Aberdeenshire, to Miss Mabel Alicia Buckle, daughter of Mr. George E. Buckle and step-daughter of Mrs. Buckle, took place quietly yesterday at St. Gabriel’s Church, Warwick Square. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Martin B. Buckle, vicar of Astley and hon. Canon of Worcester (cousin of the bride), assisted by the Rev. Rupert H. Morris, Prebendary of St David’s, vicar of the parish. The bride was married in ivory satin veiled in crepon, trimmed with silk and silver embroidery, with a veil of net covered in a wreath of myrtle and orange blossom in her hair. Mr. Buckle gave his daughter away, and she was attended by three bridesmaids, Miss Buckle (her cousin), Miss Gertie Runge, and Miss Hetty Marshall., who were dressed alike in pale blue crepon, with large black hats wreathed in white sweet peas, while they carried bouquets of the same flowers. Their presents from the bridegroom were blue crystal brooches. Mr. Maurice Beachcroft was best man. Owing to the recent death of Mrs. Granger, Miss Granger (the bride’s cousin) was unable to be bridesmaid, and only relatives and intimate friends of the bride and groom were present at the church, and afterwards 64, Warwick-square, were the numerous wedding presents were displayed. Later in the day Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pirie-Gordon left en route for the Mediterranean, the latter travelling in a dress of pale grey silk crepon, embroidered in aluminium, with a hat to correspond, adorned with black ostrich feathers.
The reception, which was to have been held on Saturday evening by Mrs. Buckle at Bessbrough Rooms, Grosvenor hotel, is postponed until the autumn.”
