My guest post in the blog series #MyCanvasGBS

Some months ago I was very honoured to be asked by http://www.mycanvas.com  to contribute to a series that they would be publishing on their blog called "MyCanvas Guest Blog Series" or #MyCanvasGBS.

So I duly submitted a piece, it was accepted and was published in November. It can be seen here :-

The post explains the idea of "right name wrong body syndrome" wherein the name of the individual is correct but the close family is wrong! Something that is easily done when researching people with common names and similar birth dates.

In this case it is about the family of Mary Potts, the wife of Judge Robert Day of Kerry (1746-1841). It has generally been assumed that she was the daughter of Percival Pott, the famous surgeon. However I discovered that this was not possible.

The post explains how I found that the generally accepted story was incorrect and then how I found her true family - her father and her siblings.
