University Challenge
WHIP
PRESENTED DECEMBER, 1861, BY THE
Honble W. H. W. Fitzwilliam,
and N. M. de Rothschild, Esqre
CONDITIONS
I. The Whip is to be run for annually.
II. Only horses bona=fide the property of Undergraduates or of Livery stable keepers in Cambridge will be allowed to contend and they must be nominated and ridden by Undergraduates.
III. Weight XI Stone, VII lbs. ------ Winners of a Public Race, VII lbs. extra.
IV. An Entrance Fee of Two Sovereigns, to be paid for each horse; to go to the Winner.
V. Any one winning the WHIP three years in succession may keep it, but must replace it by One of Equal Value.
VI. The Course to be selected by the Master of the Drag (at the time being) over Three miles of Fair Hunting Country.
