From the Preston Guardian :-
"William Eccles, died 15 May, 1892, aged 62 years." There were eight bearers, employés of the deceased, who walked alongside the hearse. First came the private carriage of Dr. C. J. Trimble, containing Dr. Trimble and the Rev. J. Taylor. Next came the hearse, four bearers walking on each side. This was followed by the private carriage of the deceased, empty and with the blinds drawn. The second carriage contained Mr. and Mrs. John Eccles, Farington House, and Master Eccles. The third, Master Earnest Eccles, Miss Eccles, and Miss Cazaby, and the fourth, Mr. Fernandez and Mr. Wilson. Then followed a number of private carriages, including those of Mr. H. Dewhurst, Mr. Mitchell Eccles, and Mr. Calvert. The first portion of the funeral service was conducted in the church by the Rev, J. Taylor, vicar of St Saviour's, assisted by the Rev, W. B. Jacques of Whittle-le-Woods. The service was concluded at the graveside, and amongst those present were Messrs. H. Dewhurst, R. Calvert, W. McMinnies, Henry Ingham, John Ingham, W. Orr, and Mitchell Eccles. Beautiful wreaths were forwarded by the following :- Brother and sister, John and Mary Farington House; niece and nephews, Connie, Johnny, and Ernie, Farington House; Mr. and Mrs. J. Stanning, Dr. and Mrs. Trimble, Miss M. A. Cazeby; the committee and members of the Bamber Bridge Conservative Club, and the workpeople of the Withy Trees Mill. - The undertakers were Messrs. William Gray and Co., Preston, and the arrangements were most satisfactorily carried out.
