APPEARED PERSONALLY Philip Barrett Cooper of the Parish of Remenham in the County of Berks Esquire a Bachelor aged twenty one years and upwards and prayed a Licence for the Solemnization of Matrimony in the Parish Church of Saint John Hackney in the County of Middlesex between him and Maria Cooper of the Parish of Saint John Hackney aforesaid Spinster aged also twenty one years and upwards and made Oath, that, he believeth that there is no Impediment of Kindred or Alliance, or any other lawful Cause, nor any Suit commenced in any Ecclesiastical Court to bar or hinder the Proceedings of the said Matrimony, according to the Tenor of such Licence. And he further made Oath, that, the said Maria Cooper hath had her usual Place of Abode within the said Parish of Saint John Hackney aforesaid for the Space of Fifteen Days last past.

"A very interesting and well contested match of cricket was played on Monday last, by permission of Philip Cooper, esq., in his meadow adjoining Henley between the married and single players of the town of Henley. The bowling of the married was very much admired, particularly of Mr. Cobb. The batting of Messrs. Stephens, Setham, and Dobson, on the married, and of Messrs. C. Francis, Cutt, and Burnham, on the single side, was justly applauded. The numbers were :- Married 93 and 46; Single, 44 and 81. The party afterwards adjourned to the Angel Inn, were excellent provision had been made for their entertainment by the respected hostess, Mrs. Rogerson."

"The Town of Henley was enlivened on Wednesday last, by members of the Cricket Club, who opened the season with a spirited game. Philip Cooper, Esq., has for a series of years devoted a field of his to the amusement of the club, who, by way of appreciating his liberality, have resolved to make themselves proficient in the noble game, and are on the look out for a professional bowler of some celebrity, desirous to engage his services through the season. There was a substantial cold collation prepared for the refreshment of members and visitors, and in the course of play some good bowling and batting were exhibited."
