The deceased has been connected with the College for nearly 55 years, and there is no person whose name has been so familiar with the members of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, or whose career has been associated with long bygone events connected with the medical profession, as that of the deceased. A few years back, the Council of the College presented to Mr. Belfour a piece of plate, of the value of 200 guineas, in acknowledgement of his unvarying zeal, fidelity, and honorable conduct, and of the invaluable services he had rendered to the institution, in all its departments, during the 50 years then completed, of his tenure of office as Secretary to the College. The deceased had been in failing health for some time past."
