Licence obtained for marriage to Elizabeth FORSTER in Chester.8

"Know all Men by these Present, That we Jervas Wright of Sheffield in the County of York Gentleman and John Wilson of Sandbach in the County of Chester Gentleman are holden and firmly bound unto the Right Reverend Father in God Samuel by Divine Permission Lord Bishop of Chester in the Sum of One thousand Pounds of good and lawful Money of Great-Britain, to be paid unto the said Right Reverend Father his lawful Attorney, Executors, Administrators or Assignees, To which Payment well and truly to be made, we bind our selves and each of us severally for and in the whole, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators , and the Heirs Executors and Administrators of each of us firmly by these Presents. Sealed with our Seals, and date the twentieth Day of February in the twenty third Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second King of Great-Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, and in the Year of our Lord God, One thousand seven hundred and forty nine.

The Condition of this Obligation is such, That if there be not any Impediment of Precontract, Consanguinity, Affinity, or other lawful Cause to hinder the Marriage  of the above bond Jervas Wright of the age of 35 years and Elizabeth Forster of Crannage in the Parish of Sandbach above said Spinster of the age of 25 years or thereabouts of any Controversy or Suit depending in any Court before any Ecclesiastical Judge, touching any Contract or Marriage of either of the said Parties which any other ; and if the said Parties have obtained thereto the express Consent of their Parents if they be living, or otherwise of their Guardian of governors, and shall celebrate the said Marriage in the Parish Church of Sandbach or at Rosthorn in the County and Diocese of Chester or in the Chapels of Lower or Higher Peover in the same County and Dioceses according to the Letters of Dispensation to them in that behalf granted. And finally shall at all Times hereafter save and keep harmless the above-named Lord Bishop his Vicar General and his Surrogates, and all other his Officers for and concerning the granting of the said Letters : Then this present Obligation to be void, or else to remain effectual in Law."
